What is Lugol’s Iodine Solution?

 

Lugol’s Iodine Solution is iodine (I) and potassium iodide (KI) mixed with distilled water.

Lugol’s Solution was first made by French physician J. G. A. Lugol in 1829. Dr. Lugol researched substances that could help treat infections and found that iodine could be used and showed promise in this field. He used the 1:2 ratio of iodine to potassium iodide that is still used today.

 

What does Lugol’s Iodine Solution do?

 

Iodine contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid function, is important for visual function and eye moisture and may contribute to preserve healthy hair, nails and skin as well as the normal functioning of the nervous system, cognitive function and metabolism.

There are many foods with naturally occurring levels of iodine. These include seaweed or sea kelp, fish, meat, cheese and many more.

 

Adult Suggested Use

 

This product must be diluted before its usage. Dilute 1 drop of this product in 60 drops (3ml) of water and take 2 drops of this dilution, once daily, which contains 210 µg iodine (140% NRV). This product is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Discontinue use if any adverse reaction occurs. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Not for continuous daily use. Do not use if allergic to iodine.

 

Directions:

 

Take one to four drops directly onto the skin for transdermal absorption.
